Braintree Rolls in Babe Ruth Regionals, Defeating Newtown by 10

Supporters raised more than $6,000 to send Braintree to Connecticut for the Babe Ruth regionals.

Braintree is one of four teams left in the Babe Ruth 15 Regional Tournament taking place this week in Connecticut after beating host Newtown 12-2 Monday night.

The 15-year-old squad, which took the Eastern Massachusetts Championship last week, has defeated New Hampshire and lost a close game to Central Maine on Sunday.

The team will stay in Connecticut as long as it keeps winning in double elimination play. They play next Tuesday at 3 p.m. versus Norwalk, CT.

Rhode Island and Maine teams also remain in the tournament.

Stay tuned to Braintree Patch for more on the team's progress.
