Fall River Woman Busted in Braintree for Shoplifting Twice Quickly

Just three days after being arrested at the for more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from various stores, a Fall River woman was busted there again last Thursday afternoon.

Officer Matthew Heslam was on patrol in the Plaza parking lots when he spotted a Toyota Camry with Texas license plates – the same vehicle that Sarah N. Medeiros, 22 has used in the previous alleged heist on Monday evening, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.

During the Monday incident, Medeiros has ben trespassed from the mall. When Heslam saw her exit, get in her car and drive off, he checked her registration in his computer and pulled her over on Granite Street, Jenkins said.

"Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Heslam observed several bottles of cologne and perfume spread across the rear passenger floor area," Jenkins said. "Medeiros initially gave a false name, but Officer Heslam confirmed her identity and placed her under arrest for the suspended driver’s license."

An search showed seven bottles of cologne from valued at $378 and nine bottles of perfume and cologne from valued at $372. Many of the packages were damaged when the security sensors were cut off, Jenkins said.

Medeiros was charged with two counts of receiving stolen property over
$250, trespass, operating after suspension (subsequent offense) and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. Medeiros was held overnight on $2,500 bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Quincy District Court on Friday.
