Braintree Teen Charged with Intent to Distribute Marijuana

A 17-year-old Braintree man was arrested at South Shore Plaza with a mason jar full of marijuana.

A Braintree teen was arrested at South Shore Plaza on June 17 for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Matthew F. Connell, 17, was stopped by patrol officers in the mall because of a strong odor of marijuana coming from his person, according to Braintree Police Chief Russell Jenkins.

Officers Blake Holt and Derek Burr confronted Connell and discovered he had a bag or marijuana in his pocket. According to Jenkins, Connell also had a mason jar full of marijuana, additional baggies of marijuana, several empty plastic baggies and a scale in a backpack.
