The new CVS at the intersection of Washington and Church streets in North Braintree is in the final stage of construction and could open as soon as the first week of February.

G.B. New England, CVS's preferred developer, could complete the rest of its inside work and open by then, attorney Frank Marinelli said. Marinelli shepherded the project through its permitting and zoning process last year.

The 12,900-square-foot pharmacy features two drive-through windows along the western side of the property, abutting the train tracks. Expected hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. or 11 p.m., depending on demand, CVS representatives said last year.

CVS is leasing the land from owners Greg and Michael Shea, whose family has operated automobile-related businesses there for decades, including South Shore Chrysler for many years, and then South Shore Auto Lines when Chrysler pulled out following the economic collapse in 2008.

Town councilors voted unanimously in November 2012 to approve re-zoning 9,677 square feet of Residence C land to General Business, allowing the project to move forward.
