The Wamps are back on track. Braintree football began a three-game road trip on Saturday, opening against the Brookline Warriors. The Wamps opened the scoring early with a field goal off the sure footed kicker Tiago Pinto. The teams were evenly matched defensively and there was no other scoring until the fourth quarter. The Wamps used their running game against Brookline. Anthony Luisi, Braintree’s quarterback, executed a flawless drive. The coaching staff constantly mixed up the plays catching Brookline off guard. Sophomore running back JP Salisbury spent much of the day carrying the ball. Braintree mixed in carries from Chris Coraine, Connor Leslie & Nick Anson. Anthony Luisi, a dual threat, as he just as likely to run as he is to pass, …

Two goals by Keira Flaherty could not prevent a 17-2 loss to Wellesley in the first round of the Division 1 South tourney.
Senior captain Keira Flaherty scored twice, but her effort was not nearly enough to help the 13th-seeded Braintree girls lacrosse team avoid a 17-2 loss to No. 4 Wellesley Tuesday at Sprague Field in the first round of the Division 1 South tournament. “You’re never ready for it to end,” Wamps head coach Tracey Drown said. “…it was awesome to have made the tournament for a second year in a row. We’re just going to build on it.” The Raiders’ Blake Dietrick and Abby Bunting piled up seven points apiece, and goaltender Marina Guigli didn’t allow a goal over the last 36 minutes of the game. Attacker Adrienne O’Donnell began Wellesley’s offensive deluge seconds after the opening faceoff, depositing a Bunting pass in the back of the net for the …

Junior forward Pat Delano led the Wamps with 21 points and 15 rebounds as Braintree boys varsity basketball team beat Newton North 60-50 on Friday night.
TGIF? Friday night proved to be an evening of firsts for the Braintree High School boys varsity basketball team. Senior co-captain Jared Rizo scored twice in the second period, but the Wildcats roar back in the third to tie the Wamps 2-2.
The Braintree High School boys' varsity hockey team held its own against Weymouth, earning a point in a 2-2 tie on Wednesday night in a Bay State Conference matchup at the Connell Rink. Braintree junior forward Adam Kenney provided assists on both Wamp goals, helping the Wamps gain a 2-0 advantage heading into the final period. But the Wildcats prowled in the third, scoring two goals in the first 2:09 of the frame to tie the score at 2-all. "Weymouth's one of the best teams in the state for a reason," Braintree head coach David Fasano said. "They come at you hard." Braintree moved to 7-2-2 overall with the tie, while the Wildcats stand at 9-1-1. The Wamps return to the ice Saturday night at 8 p.m. against Dedham at the Flood Omni Rink.

Senior co-captain Jared Rizo notched the game-winning goal with 1:49 remaining in regulation as the Wamps ground the Rockets 4-3.
The Braintree boys' varsity hockey team made a statement Saturday night, defeating Needham 4-3 in a Bay State Conference match-up at the Zapustas Arena. Braintree head coach David Fasano said he was impressed with his squad's effort effort throughout the contest. "I've never been so proud of that group of guys in [the locker room] right now," Fasano said after the game. "It's just a great signature win." The Wamps moved to 7-2-1 overall with the victory, while the Rockets fell to 4-4-1 overall. Fasano said he feels the win could help the Wamps' argument that they should be considered among the elite in teams in the Commonwealth. "Needham's been talked about as a Super 8 [tournament] team all year long," Fasano said, "but maybe our name …
