Braintree Police responded to an early morning hostage situation on Washington Street Sunday. WBZ reported that the suspect held a female acquaintance hostage with a gun from 1:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. Sunday. The male suspect eventually turned himself into police, according to WBZ News. Charles N. Diorio is being charged after allegedly holding a 46-year-old female hostage at 640 Washington Street.
Braintree Police identified the suspect in this morning's hostage situation as Charles N. Diorio, 49, of Chelsea. Diorio is being charged with armed assault in a dwelling, kidnapping, witness intimidation, threats to commit a crime, illegal possession of a firearm, giving a false name to police after arrest and being a fugitive from justice. According to Braintree Deputy Police Chief Russell Jenkins, the suspect had a parole violation warrant out of California. The warrant details are not known, he said.
