Braintree High Junior to Attend U.S. Naval Academy Program

Founded in 1845, the U.S. Naval Academy is a prestigious four-year college that prepares midshipmen morally, mentally and physically to be professional officers in the naval service.

The U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) invited a select group of approximately 2,550 young men and women from around the nation and abroad to attend the Naval Academy Summer Seminar program this year. Summer Seminar is a fast-paced leadership experience for rising seniors in high school. This program helps educate, motivate and prepare selected students who are considering applying for admission to USNA. Thomas O’Connell , a junior at Braintree High School, will participate in the 2013 U.S. Naval Academy Summer Seminar program. Summer Seminar teaches prospective applicants about life at the Naval Academy, where academics, athletics, and professional training are key elements in developing our nation's leaders. Congressman Lynch Nominates Braintree High Senior to U.S. Service Academies

As part of his annual Congressional responsibilities, Congressman Lynch nominates exemplary candidates to the service academies.

Congressman Stephen F. Lynch recently announced that he has nominated Thomas “T.J.” MacAleese for appointment to the United States Naval Academy, the United States Military Academy and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. T.J., the son of Kevin and Karen MacAleese, is a senior at Braintree High School.  As part of his annual Congressional responsibilities, Congressman Lynch nominates exemplary candidates to the service academies.  “Since September 11, 2001, the quality of applicants has steadily improved every year, and this year was no exception.
