Tax Free Holiday

What Will You Buy This Weekend?

Massachusetts is taking a holiday from its 6.25 percent sales tax this weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, items for sale under $2500 will be free from tax, excluding restaurant meals and tobacco.

While Massachusetts is having a holiday from the 6.25 percent sales tax this weekend, will you buy something just because you don't have to pay sales tax? Tobacco, restaurant meals and single items costing $2500 or more will still be taxed. And, this begs the question: Do you tip on tax? I say "No." The husband says that I am "cheap." If you are a business owner, have you seen more shopping during this tax free holiday over other weekends? If you are a shopper, what will you be purchasing this weekend in order to save 6.25 percent in sales tax? Let us know in the comments section.
