Sustainable Braintree's farmers market is at Braintree Town Hall each Saturday this season from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
UPDATE: In a follow-up interview, Donna Ingemanson of the Braintree Farmers Market said that she does not understand why Taber posted the notice on her website, because the non-profit communicated with her prior to the season and said she could be a vendor in Braintree without accepting EBT. "I am completely in disbelief that she would do that," Ingemanson said. Ingemanson said that the farmers market started accepting EBT through a US Department of Agriculture program last season and that the market does not decide what products can be purchased through EBT. She also noted that just 3 percent of sales through the market's token program were through EBT last year. The Braintree Farmers Market does not take a position on EBT use in general…

They are permitted to sell but not sample wine at Sustainable Braintree's weekly farmers market, running from June through October. The board members present on Tuesday – Joe Powers, Russell Jenkins and Marybeth McGrath – voted unanimously in favor and without extensive discussion. On Monday April 1, 2013 at 7pm at the Thayer Public Library, Sustainable Braintree’s Energy Task Force will host a presentation by Gary Rucinski, of the Citizens Climate Lobby, a non-profit group whose mission is ‘to create the political will for a stable climate’. Doubt among the general public over the existence human-caused global warming seems to be finally on the decline. The disinformation and denial that arose in 2008 and 2009, funded in part by the fossil fuel industry is waning in substance and fervor. More and more people are coming to the realization that the human species is indeed having an effect on our planet Earth. As good as all of this is, unfortunately, it is taking actual climate change to convince people of its …
