A re-submitted application to serve beer and wine at Wasabi at the South Shore Plaza was looked upon more favorably by Braintree officials Tuesday afternoon than when the Japanese restaurant withdrew its request for a license last September. Eight months ago, Wasabi officials decided not to pursue its license application after members of the Board of License Commissioners questioned the establishment opening without full permitting and suggesting that it would store alcohol in a location separate from the licensed premises. Local resident Elissa Garza will be serving as South Shore Plaza’s Style Setter.
A local woman has been selected by Simon Malls to be the fashion blogger for the South Shore Plaza. Elissa Garza will provide a local opinion on all things related to fashion, beauty. She was selected along with 40 others nationwide out of an applicant pool of 700. Garza lives in the metro Boston area and works in Cambridge, Simon said in a press release. "Hoping to create something substantial when it comes to fashion, Elissa will take her love for fashion and scoping out the latest trends, fashions and accessories and showcase all her discoveries on her Style Setter blog, all of which can be found at South Shore Plaza," according to the release. The One Fund is the central non-profit raising money for the victims of the Boston Marathon attack.
Simon Malls and Premium Outlets across New England, including South Shore Plaza in Braintree, have donated an initial $100,000 to The One Fund Boston to support victims of the Boston Marathon bombing that left three dead and more than 170 wounded. Walk for Hospice of the South Shore will take place Saturday, March 23.
Thousands of people are expected to take to the halls of Braintree's South Shore Plaza on Saturday, March 23, to benefit Hospice of the South Shore at South Shore Hospital. All of the proceeds from the 22nd Annual Walk for Hospice of the South Shore will benefit hospice patients. Hospice of the South Shore provides end-of-life care to hundreds of patients annually, regardless of their ability to pay. The event will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. before the day of shopping begins. Walkers of all ages, from various local communities, are expected to participate in the annual fundraiser. Music and plenty of children's activities will fill the Plaza during the Walk. The fire was clear by 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
There was a small fire Sunday around 6 p.m. at the South Shore Plaza that was cleared quickly, according to the Braintree Fire Department. Initial reports put the location in the basement of the Granite Street mall. The scene was clear as of 6:35 p.m. Reports on Twitter indicated that the Plaza was evacuated because of the fire.

The Easter Bunny hopped his way to the South Shore Plaza in Braintree on Saturday, March 2. He will be at his post on the first floor in the Nordstrom wing from now through Saturday, March 30. The Easter Bunny will be at the South Shore Plaza Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for photos.
