Due to the expected winter storm on Tuesday, the state announced that the MCAS English Language Arts Composition test for students in grades 4, 7 and 10 has been postponed until Monday, March 25.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook.
By the end of last year, with Braintree having seen only a dusting of snow so far, the town had made just a mild dent in its snow and ice removal budget. The last few weeks have wiped out those remaining funds. After the Blizzard of 2013 that dropped more than two feet of snow and last weekend's storm that brought another several inches, Braintree's $350,000 winter budget is depleted, Mayor Joseph Sullivan said. "We have reserves, we will be adjusting the funding," Sullivan said. For the last several years, Braintree has slowly increased the amount it allocates to snow and ice, seeking to reach the level it would cost to fund an average snow season. The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Saturday into Sunday.
While some forecasts call for up to a foot of snow west and north of Boston this weekend and as much as four to eight inches in the Braintree area, the National Weather Service is warning residents to be aware of the approaching coastal storm but also advising that its track and accumulation remain uncertain. "There is high probability for a strong coastal storm to impact Southern New Englan late Saturday into Sunday," the service wrote in a Hazardous Weather Outlook. "A lot of uncertainty remains given that the storm is still nearly 3 days in the future." Do you agree with the governor's decision or was it too drastic?
All non-emergency drivers were ordered off the roads on Friday when Gov. Deval Patrick issued an executive order banning travel during the blizzard. (Editor's note: The ban is lifted statewide as of 4 p.m. Saturday.) Patrick's executive order is being praised by some and bashed by others, reported The Boston Globe. While former Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis, who was in charge of the commonwealth during the Blizzard of ’78, praised the governor’s move, others called the order “tyrannical” and say the strict ban and hefty fines were too much, according to The Globe. Not the least bit surprising since the budget was set at an unrealistic $350k. What is surprising is that they managed to spend all $350k while doing such a ridiculously bad job plowing the previous two storms.
