DeNapoli 'Finally Here' at Town Council Meeting

Braintree Town Councilor Ronald DeNapoli has been absent from the council since November 2012.

For the first time in five months, District 5 Town Councilor Ronald DeNapoli sat behind the long table in Town Hall's Cahill Auditorium and announced his presence. "Finally here," DeNapoli said during roll call at the start of Tuesday night's meeting. DeNapoli's attendance was his first since Nov. 20, 2012. Since his re-election in fall 2011, DeNapoli has missed 51 percent of council meetings, with most of those absences coming since last July. The councilor blamed the long absence on illness in an email to Town Council President Charles Kokoros last month, and on Tuesday he said it was a heart problem, declining to provide more detail. Long Absence Due to Illness Will End Next Month, Braintree Councilor Says

Ronald DeNapoli, representing Braintree's District 5, has not attended a Town Council meeting since November.

District 5 Councilor Ronald DeNapoli has not showed up to a Town Council meeting for more than three months and was attending only intermittently before that, leaving many residents and even fellow councilors wondering where he was. Earlier this month, DeNapoli spoke with a reporter from the Patriot Ledger, saying that he had been diagnosed with an unspecified illness. And during Tuesday night's council meeting, President Charles Kokoros said that he had received an email from DeNapoli that indicated he will return for the March 19 meeting.
