Cusack, a first-term representative from Braintree, said in May that he mistakenly listed Braintree employee Christopher Griffin as his campaign treasurer after Griffin was hired by the town.
Rep. Mark Cusack, D-Braintree, and mayoral aide Christopher Griffin have paid fines to the state after Cusack admitted last spring that he inappropriately listed Griffin as his campaign treasurer when he was a public employee. The payment agreements were disclosed in letters from Michael J. Sullivan, director of the Office of Campaign & Political Finance, to Cusack and Griffin that were made public this week. Cusack, through his campaign committee, paid $750, and Griffin paid $200. Cusack said in an interview in May that he discovered the mistake while preparing for this year's race and immediately notified the OCPF. State law prohibits a government employee from serving as a campaign treasurer. Griffin, assistant to Braintree Mayor …

The parents spoke during Monday night's Braintree School Committee meeting following a presentation on the state budget by Rep. Mark Cusack.
The anticipation of final state budget numbers served as a backdrop on Monday night as some two dozen parents filed into South Middle School to refocus the Braintree School Committee on high class sizes at Highlands Elementary School. Two additional teachers, and a creative plan to fit two more classrooms into an already-packed school, would produce a better learning environment for third and fourth grade students at Highlands, said Sheelagh Corcoran, one of the school's advocates. Corcoran told committee members than more than 200 Highlands parents have signed a petition and that advocates are working with the principal, superintendent and mayor on solutions, such as using the library and computer lab as classroms. "We will be able to …

Cusack, a first-term representative from Braintree, said he mistakenly listed Braintree employee Christopher Griffin as his campaign treasurer after Griffin was hired by the town.
Rep. Mark Cusack, D-Braintree, said on Tuesday night that he made an error in listing someone as his campaign treasurer who, since Cusack's initial election bid in 2010, went on to serve as a Braintree employee. "I take full ownership of this," Cusack said in an interview. Cusack said he discovered the mistake, reported first by the Boston Globe, on Monday while preparing for this year's race and immediately notified the Massachusetts Office of Campaign & Political Finance. State law prohibits a government employee from serving as a campaign treasurer. Christopher Griffin, assistant to Braintree Mayor Joseph Sullivan, was listed as Cusack's treasurer for the reporting periods from Jan. 1, 2010 through Dec. 31, 2011. He was hired by the …

The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court four years ago that the MBTA could put up billboards on its property without local zoning review.
Legislation filed by state Rep. Mark Cusack, D-Braintree, that would require the MBTA to receive approval from local officials before placing above-ground advertisements in their communities received a hearing before the Joint Committee on Transportation earlier this week. The bill stems from a decision four years ago by the Supreme Judicial Court that said the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority could place billboards on its property without local zoning review. Following that decision, the MBTA announced that it would begin to erect advertisements throughout its properties to generate millions of dollars in new revenues. In spring 2009, the agency said it would auction off space for 60 billboards worth $6 million annually, …
