National Champion Pop Warner Cheerleaders Honored by Braintree Officials

Competing against 11 other teams from around the country in the Midget Cheer Level 2 Medium division, the Wamps scored 89.98 percent.

Mayor Joseph Sullivan set high expectations for the Braintree Pop Warner A Team Cheerleaders Tuesday night. "Next year you've got to do it all over again," he said. Sullivan, of course, was talking about the squad's national championship victory in Florida last month, in which Braintree toppled 11 other teams in the Midget Cheer Level 2 Medium division. "Braintree's proud of you," the mayor said during a celebration at Town Hall prior to the Town Council meeting. He gave commendations to the cheerleaders and encouraged them to stay focused on academics and listen to their parents. The cheerleaders received the highest score out of 65 teams in addition to their division win, coach Kelly Fichtner said, including versus higher level teams. …

What an amazing and wonderful experience for these girls. Not only placed first in The Hockomock League, placed first in the Qualifiers, then placed first in the Regionals and topped it off with first place in the Nationals. Highest score out of 65 teams in their league, 5th out of over 400 teams for the week and 2nd highest score in choreography at Nationals. This is not an easy thing. We are so…   more ›

UPDATE: Braintree Pop Warner Cheerleaders Win National Championship

The squad continues to raise funds for its trip to Orlando, FL, and it plans to return on Sunday, Dec. 9.

UPDATE: The scores have been posted on the 2012 Pop Warner National Championships website. Competing against 11 other teams from around the country in the Midget Cheer Level 2 Medium division, the Wamps scored 89.98 percent, beating the second placed Blackstone Valley Pop Warner by slightly more than 1 percent. *****     *****     ***** The Braintree Pop Warner A Team Cheerleaders won the 2012 National Championships in Orlando Friday afternoon.
