1920s Boston to Hollywood Tale to be Told at Thayer Library

All programs are free and open to the public. You do not have to be a resident of Braintree to attend. Thayer Public Library is located at 798 Washington St.

Thayer Public Library will host Schmoozing with Sophie Tucker at 1 p.m. on Saturday March 23.  The audience will experience story-telling at its best with Linda Myer as Sophia Tucker, who shares her poignant memories of her struggles to achieve the American dream in 1928. Sophie Tucker the last of the red-hot mamas will keep you laughing with tales of climbing the show business ladder from the crowded tenements of Boston's North End to Hollywood. This program is part of the One Braintree, One Book and the selected title is the tragic love story “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald. One Braintree, One Book Baseball Finale Planned for August

All programs are free and open to the public. You do not have to be a resident of Braintree to attend.

One Braintree One Book Baseball Finale August 16, 5:00 to 7:00 PM  The Thayer Public Library is celebrating the finale of our second annual One Braintree, One Book right across the street from the library at French’s Common.  There will be free food and fun for all ages. Come and cheer on the Princes and the Thieves as they compete in the kids’ softball game. For those ages 3 and older, if you’ve ever wondered if your pitch is ready for the majors, come try your hand at the speed-pitch machine.  There will also be a craft activity, face painting, and a raffle drawing.  If you haven’t entered the raffle, it’s not too late. Stop by the library and pick up an entry form, answer the baseball questions, and drop it off at any service desk. So …

Author Shelley Sommer Appearing at Thayer Library for One Braintree, One Book

One Braintree, One Book is a summer-long, town-wide reading program. This year's pick is Prince of Thieves by Chuck Hogan.

Thayer Public Library will host author Shelley Sommer on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 6 p.m.  If you love baseball, don’t miss this exciting opportunity to learn more about the history of this beloved sport when local author Shelley Sommer visits the Thayer Public Library on Tuesday, July 31. The author of the teen book, Hammerin' Hank Greenberg, Shelley will speak about this famous baseball player’s life and the exciting process of digging into historical records to uncover his story.   Presented as part of One Braintree, One Book, this event is not to be missed! Enter the Teen Photo Contest as Part of One Braintree, One Book

We’re looking for pictures from your vacation, your favorite local baseball field, or any image that incorporates summer and/or baseball elements.

The theme of this year’s One Braintree, One Book is baseball and your photo must illustrate either baseball, summer, or a combination of both!   We’re looking for pictures from your vacation, your favorite local baseball field, or any image that incorporates summer and/or baseball elements.
