Although Chris Herren was chosen 33rd in the draft, injury and substance abuse ended his NBA career after just two seasons with the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics.
Sports Illustrated selected Chris Herren for a feature on incoming Big East freshmen soon after he joined the Boston College basketball team, putting him on a trampoline in front of Fanueil Hall. "It was a big picture, complete with me in my maroon Boston College uniform, national exposure," Herren writes in his memoir, Basketball Junkie. "Everyone saw it, made a big deal out of it, and I could live off my laurels for a while longer."
