Braintree Man to Run Boston Marathon for Children's Cancer Clinic

The Marathon Patient-Partner Program pairs runners with patients undergoing cancer treatment at Mass General. Chris Buliga is partnered with his son Nathan, a Braintree High student.

For the second year in a row, Nathan Buliga's father Chris will run the Boston Marathon to help raise money for the children's cancer clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital where Nathan receives treatment. Nathan, a 14-year-old Braintree High School freshman, was diagnosed three years ago with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare bone and soft tissue cancer. He undergoes regular treatment at MassGeneral Hospital for Children, and last year his father ran the marathon for the first time in scorching heat as part of the Patient-Partner Program. Morelli Family, Embraced by Braintree Community, Giving Back After Father's Surgery

John and Stacey Morelli, who live in Braintree, are creating a foundation to help other transplant families after John was given a new heart and liver earlier this year.

By the time John Morelli had been at Massachusetts General Hospital for several weeks this winter, waiting for a transplant of both his heart and liver, the Braintree native had put the upcoming surgery in the back of his mind, concentrating instead on who was visiting each day and whether the weather was mild enough for a walk outside. Then on Friday, March 23, around midday, Morelli was lying in bed, not watching TV, just waiting to get up and sit outside in the sun for a half hour. Dr. Kimberly Parks, a cardiologist leading a team of medical professionals assigned to Morelli's case, walked into his room.
