Officials to Question Macy's On Marathon Shopping Security Plan

Macy's at the South Shore Plaza will remain open 24-hours a day leading up to Christmas Eve.

Members of the Town Council's Committee on Public Safety plan Tuesday night to ask South Shore Plaza representatives about security at Macy's during the store's upcoming "marathon shopping" weekend leading up to Christmas. The committee is meeting to discuss general police updates with Chief Russell Jenkins and holiday security plans for the mall. Councilor Sean Powers, vice chair of the committee, said members will also ask about potential police details during the 24-hour shopping event being held from Friday, Dec. 21 through Monday, Dec. 24. Braintree Macy's Chosen as Holiday 'Marathon' Weekend Store

Macy's at the South Shore Plaza will remain open 24-hours a day leading up to Christmas Eve.

Attention last-minute shoppers: Do you wish stores would stay open all night, giving you extra time to find holiday deals? Then say hello to marathon shopping at Macy's, which will remain open 24 hours a day at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree from 7 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21 through 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The special hours are part of a nationwide expansion of the retailer's six-year-old marathon shopping initiative.
