Upcoming Commuter Rail Change Information – Schedules, Fares

Starting July 1, fares and scheduling will change on the commuter rail lines through Braintree and elsewhere.

To All of Our Plymouth/Kingston Line Customers Important Information SCHEDULE CHANGES, FARE INCREASE and ONBOARD FARE PRICING – Effective July 1, 2012 Detailed information on the changes to the fare structure and how those changes will affect your specific needs, is available on the following link: http://www.mbcr.net/Fare_Structure_7-1-12.pdf  You may also obtain this information from the fare flyers available at North, South and Back Bay Stations. Commuter Train Honoring MA Soldiers Stops in Braintree-Weymouth Landing

The Gold Star train will travel around Massachusetts on regular service for the next year or so, honoring deceased soldiers.

Since it was dedicated in time for Memorial Day on April 23, 2012, the Gold Star Commuter Rail coach has been making appearances across the region, from Providence, RI to Worcester and Plymouth. On Friday, the train made it to the commuter rail station on the Braintree/Weymouth line and was visited by mayors Joseph Sullivan and Susan Kay, veterans and other local officials. Andrew Farrar, whose son Andrew Farrar Jr. of Weymouth was killed in Iraq seven years ago on his 31st birthday, also visited the Gold Star train on Friday.  One of the train's cars is shrink-wrapped with gold stars honoring 136 Massachusetts residents who have lost their lives serving in the military in Afghanistan or Iraq.
