Rick Doane, Executive Director of Interfaith Social Services, Quincy, Mass., is proud to announce that the organization raised in excess of $100,000 at this year’s Feed the Hungry Gala & 65th Anniversary Celebration. Paula Lombardo, Chief Administrative Officer of The Lombardo Companies, will receive Interfaith Social Services’ 2012 Community Hero of the Year award at their 65th Anniversary Gala on December 6th. Lombardo has been helping Interfaith meet the needs of the families and individuals they serve for more than a decade. “Paula is always donating time, business services and personal resources to help us serve the South Shore,” said Rick Doane, Executive Director of Interfaith Social Services. “Whether it’s through her past role as a Feed the Hungry Gala co-chair, host or sponsor, her support has been consistent over the years, always, finding ways to be extremely involved in Interfaith’s mission of helping our neighbors in need.” Paula Lombardo…

This year marks 65 years that Quincy-based Interfaith Social Services has been helping South Shore residents in need. Founded in 1947 with a mission to “strengthen family life and offer assistance to anyone in need,” Interfaith Social Services has evolved into a non-profit multiservice center that helps to feed, clothe and comfort disadvantaged families and individuals from Quincy to Cohasset. For many people on the South Shore the word “volunteering” is synonymous with Interfaith Social Services. Last year South Shore residents and employees from local businesses contributed over 22,360 hours of volunteer service at Interfaith. At a recent ceremony hosted by Atria Marina Place twenty of those volunteers were inducted into Interfaith’s Volunteer Hall of Fame. Since 1947 Interfaith Social Services has served as a multiservice center for disadvantaged families and individuals from the South Shore. This nonreligious organization endeavors to strengthen family life and provide assistance by feeding, clothing and comforting their neighbors in need. Clowns and cheerleaders are not what you’d expect to see at most Walkathons, but at this past weekend’s South Shore Walk they blended right in with the fun family atmosphere. Over three hundred local residents followed a 3 mile route around the Quincy neighborhood of Squantum to raise money and awareness about poverty on the South Shore. For thirty-eight years Interfaith Social Services has hosted the South Shore Walk. Located in Quincy, Interfaith is a non-religious multiservice center for local residents.
