Senior Frankie Donahue was one of 20 Massachusetts gymnasts selected this year.
A tough competitor who especially shines on the vault, Braintree High School senior and gymnastics team captain Frankie Donahue will travel to Florida in May to participate in an annual competition that showcases the best gymnasts in the country. Donahue was selected along with 19 other girls to represent Massachusetts on the Senior National High School Gymnastics Team, an honor chosen by scouts from the national coaches committee. In Fort Meyers on May 18 and 19, Donahue will compete using Level 9 rules, a high level of performance that the graduating senior said she is prepared for. "I haven’t been at that level," she said, "but I’ve been learning a lot more skills and I really like learning harder things that I didn’t know I could do.” …

Below is a summary of the Braintree High School varsity girls gymnastics team's performance last week, provided by Head Coach Deb Duprey. As the gymnasts enter into their last couple of weeks in the season, they currently have a record of 7-2. They look forward to the difficult challenge of facing undefeated Wellesley on Tuesday, Feb. 7, and then competing in the Bay State Conference Meet on Saturday, Feb. 11 (held at Newton North High School). Tuesday, Jan. 31 Braintree: 130.75 – Canton: 130.55 The Braintree girls won a nailbiter on Tuesday night against non-league Canton High. The Braintree High School varsity girls gymnastics team remains strong despite a couple losses last week. So far they have defeated Weymouth, Framingham, Needham, Norwood and Brookline, and lost to Natick and Newton North. Below is a summary of the team's performance last week, provided by Head Coach Deb Duprey. The girl's gymnastics team had a rough week this week, losing both of their scheduled dual meets. Their record is now 5-2. The team faced its toughest challenges yet this season in Natick and Newton North. The Braintree High School varsity girls gymnastics team continues to roll through its opponents, defeating so far Weymouth, Framingham, Needham, Norwood and Brookline. The Braintree High School varsity girls gymnastics team continues to roll through its opponents, defeating so far Weymouth, Framingham, Needham and Norwood. Tuesday, Jan. 10 Braintree: 132.35 – Norwood: 123.65 Olivia Mansfield and Hanna Campbell performed good vaults as well. Liz McLean competed a solid bar routine and Rebecca Whitehouse did well on floor. Friday, Jan. 13 Braintree: 129.85 – Needham: 127.2 This was an important win for Braintree as this was one of the teams that defeated them last year.
