The Braintree High School Dance Team recently won two dance titles at the New England High School Dance Championship.
UPDATE: This event has been rescheduled for tonight, March 20, at 7 p.m. ***** ***** ***** Braintree High's award-winning dance team is hosting "Dancing with the Staff," March 19 at 6 p.m. in the Auditorium at BHS. Members of the varsity and JV teams will partner with faculty from BHS and perform choreographed routines in front of a live audience. Tickets are $5 at the door. Proceeds benefit the BHS dance team. Emily Rodd, an English teacher and the assistant coach of the JV dance team, will be dancing along with many of her Braintree High colleagues. March win is fifth title this season for the BHS dancers.
The Braintree High varsity dance team won two dance titles at the New England High School Dance Championship at Braintree High March 9th. BHS beat seven other high school dance teams from across New England, capturing first place in the jazz division. New to the pom division, the BHS varsity team placed second in this category to nationally ranked Hamden High of Connecticut. Braintree was the only dance team to place in the top two in two divisions and the only Massachusetts team to score wins. The Braintree High varsity dance team won first place at the Bay State Conference Winter Cheer and Dance Championship at Braintree High on February 13th. BHS beat six other high school dance teams, eliciting high marks from the judges and bringing an enthusiastic audience to its feet. Senior Ashley Boyle was named the 2013 All Star and senior Rose Thackeray was awarded honorable mention. The following is an update from Athletic Director Michael Denise: Congratulations to the Braintree High School Dance and Cheer Teams. The Dance Team was crowned 2013 Winter Bay State Conference Champions and The Cheer Team placed 2nd at the Bay State Conference Championship. The Dance Team will compete next at the MSSAA State Championship here at BHS on Saturday, March 2nd. The Cheer Team will advance to the MSSAA Division 1 South Regionals that will be held at Whitman Hanson High School. Great job to all the girls.

Elementary and middle school students are invited to a Dance Clinic sponsored by the Braintree High Dance Team, Jan. 25, from 4 pm. to 7 p.m. at Braintree High. Aspiring dancers will learn a dance routine under the direction of the 2012 New England Dance Champs – the BHS Varsity Dance Team. The girls will then move to Braintree High’s Gym where they’ll perform the routine with the dance team at halftime during the varsity girls’ basketball game. This is the second dance clinic offered by the BHS dance team. The November 2012 clinic was a huge success with over 75 girls wowing the crowd under the lights at a Wamps football game. Braintree High has won the title five years in a row.
Braintree High's Varsity Dance Team won first place at the MSSAA (Massachusetts Secondary School Administrators Association) Fall State Cheerleading and Dance Championship, Nov. 18 at Shrewsbury High School. This is the fifth consecutive year the team has captured the dance title since the MSSAA sanctioned the competition as a fall state competition in 2008. The team of 22 dancers, led by senior captains Ashley Boyle, Rae Lynch, Alison Page and Rose Thackeray, are coached by Jamie Campbell and Lindsay Coleman. The Braintree High School Dance Team heldd a fundraiser Friday night before the football game. They taught approximately 100 grammer school students their dance routine. Then to the surprise of the BHS fans, the Dance Wampettes performed with the BHS Dance team at half time and they were GREAT!!! Awesome Awesome job Dance Team!!
