Construction to Begin This Spring on North Braintree CVS

The Braintree Town Council approved a re-zoning of the site at Church and Washington Streets last fall.

The developer of a new CVS in North Braintree expects construction to start late spring and the project to be complete by January 2014 following the Planning Board's approval of the 12,900-square-foot pharmacy's site plan Tuesday night. CVS will lease the land at the intersection of Church and Washington streets from owners Greg and Michael Shea, whose family has operated automobile-related businesses there for decades, including South Shore Chrysler for many years, and then South Shore Auto Lines when Chrysler pulled out following the economic collapse in 2008. G.B. New England, CVS's preferred developer, will demolish the structures currently on the site and build the pharmacy with an eye on integrating it with the abutting residential …

North Braintree CVS Re-Zone Approved

The Town Council looked favorably on the re-zoning request on Wednesday.

Coming off a recommendation from Mayor Joseph Sullivan and favorable action by the Planning Board and Committee on Rules & Ordinance, a proposal to re-zone a portion of the former South Shore Auto Lines to make way for a CVS received unanimous approval from town councilors on Wednesday night. The development at 90 Church St., along with future work slated for 7-11 Independence Ave., will help create a corridor in Braintree with "the potential to serve as an appropriate gateway into our Town from Quincy," Sullivan wrote in a letter to the Town Council. The council voted 8-0 with Ronald DeNapoli absent to approve re-zoning 9,677 square feet of Residence C land to General Business. Site plan review will come next in front of the Planning …

Prospects Good For CVS Move From South Quincy to North Braintree

The Committee on Ordinance & Rules looked favorably on the re-zoning request in North Braintree on Tuesday.

Representatives for a proposed CVS in North Braintree presented details on landscaping, lighting, parking, traffic and building design to town councilors on Tuesday night. Earlier this month, a different re-zoning petition passed through the council, traveling a bumpier road. Neighborhood concerns about that proposal – located at 7-11 Independence Ave. – centered on the unknown. How contaminated is the site? What type of building will be constructed? Will traffic increase severely? Call it the Tale of Two Developments. "With this proposal there is no guessing," said attorney Frank Marinelli, representing the developer for CVS, which is seeking a long-term lease at the former site of South Shore Auto Lines. "We have been open and available …

New CVS Moves Forward With Zoning OK From Planning Board

The Braintree Town Council will make a final decision on whether to re-zone a portion of land off Church Street to make way for a CVS.

A proposed CVS at Church and Washington Streets in Braintree moved one step closer to reality this week when Planning Board members recommended that the Town Council approve re-zoning at the site. The board voted unanimously on Tuesday in favor of re-zoning a portion of 90 Church street from Residence C to General Business. Representatives for the developer, New England 2 LLC, said that use in the area is consistent with business zoning and that the new development would be more attractive for neighbors than the current South Shore Auto Lines. "We recognize that this is an important site in Braintree," attorney Frank Marinelli said. A CVS will be a "higher and better commercial use," he added, and "more compatible" with the surrounding …

CVS May Replace South Shore Auto Lines in North Braintree

The proposal is currently before Braintree town councilors. Their next full meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012.

A developer for CVS Pharmacy has a request before the Braintree Town Council that would involve re-zoning a portion of South Shore Auto Line's land from residential to general business so that the Rhode Island-based company can build a new drive-through store. The proposed redevelopment, at the intersection of Church and Washington streets in North Braintree, cannot move forward without the re-zoning, which should be marked for general buiness use already, the property owner and the developer argue in a petition submitted to the town earlier this month by attorney Frank Marinelli. Town councilors referred the re-zoning request to their Committee on Ordinance & Rules last week. The full council meets next on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m. …

Yes, I have to agree with everybody on this matter. Bad traffic there now, can't wait to see what it would be like if there was a CVS there. As another reader wrote; there is a CVS over the line in Quincy, one on Washington Street in So Bra square; one at the plaza, and one at Tedeski plaza on Grove and Liberty St. Pretty soon we will have as many CVS's as we do Dunkin Donuts. Really no need of …   more ›
