12-year-old Braintree resident, Robert Martins, recently took a break from his artwork to smile for the camera at Braintree Village’s Arts and Crafts Day. Each month, the Tenant Service Organization hosts community building events for the residents of Braintree Village, including Arts and Crafts Day, Movie Night, Bingo Night, Karaoke Night and Fun and Games day.
In the wake of two stabbings last week at Braintree Village, town officials and the property manager have vowed to keep violence out.
The management at Braintree Village, responding to separate stabbings at the apartment complex last week, said that it will work with the mayor and police chief to ensure residents' safety and will seek the expulsion of violent individuals. "The safety and well-being of our residents is our paramount concern at Braintree Village," Peabody Properties spokesperson Dianna Curry said in a statement. "Braintree Village has zero tolerance for violence and will use all available legal means to permanently remove any individual from the premise who represents a threat to the safety of any of our residents." After three weeks of workshops taught by local, rising stars, a group of Braintree Village youth sang, danced and drummed their way through a community talent show. The performance was staged by and for residents of Braintree Village, a 324-unit rental housing complex managed by local real estate firm, Peabody Properties, Inc. The children, who ranged in age from five to fourteen, were mentored and coached by rapper Brian Johnson, vocalist Lauren Kreckie and singer-songwriter Shea Rose. As a 20 yr resident here at Braintree Village I have seen changes over the years. In my opinion for the better. Had these improvements not occurred I would have moved many yrs ago. I believe management runs the appropriate cori checks but after that when residents invite trouble into the apts what can they do till problems arise. At that point what I have seen they handle it accordingly. more ›
