Summer Job Applications Available at Braintree Recreation Department

The Braintree Recreation and Community Events Department is currently accepting summer employment applications at its 85 Quincy Avenue offices through the end of April. Jobs such as organized play instructors, lifeguards, special needs counselors, sailing instructors will need new hires to fill in the ranks even though veteran employees with the department will be given first chance to return to their positions based on past summer work performances. Candidates seeking employment must be Braintree residents. Interviews will be conducted in early May at the department’s offices for those candidates who are currently in college or who are graduating from high school this year. Free Family Fun Kids Day at Braintree's French's Common Today

The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 2 next to Braintree Town Hall.

Mayor Joseph C. Sullivan and the Braintree Recreation Department present the 3rd Annual Free Family Fun Kids Day on Thursday, August 2nd, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at French’s Common located next to Town Hall.  The grills will be heated for hot dogs along with chips, beverages and ice cream. Our DJ will play the music. There will be a bounce house, slip n’ slide, face painting,games, activities and fun for all. Free Concert at Braintree's Smith Beach on Thursday

The concert features live musical entertainment of Jumpin’ Juba from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mayor Joseph C. Sullivan, the Braintree Recreation Department and the East Braintree Civic Association present its summer concert at Smith Beach located on Vinedale Road in East Braintree on Thursday evening, Aug. 2. The concert features live musical entertainment of Jumpin’ Juba from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. With Steve Hurl on guitar and vocals, Bruce Ward on piano, Brian Flan on drums, Jumpin’ Juba plays blues mixedwith many flavors of American “roots” music. It’s all free. Please join us and enjoy the entertainment. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair or blanket. UPDATE: Kung Fu Panda 2 Braintree Family Movie Night Moved Inside to Town Hall

The movie night, sponsored by Braintree Electric Light Department, will be held at Braintree High School's Carson Soccer Field.

UPDATE: Because of rain, the movie will be held at Braintree Town Hall at 8:15pm with doors opening at 7:30 p.m.There will be a “buck-a-buy” concession stand selling soft drinks and snacks. However, there will be no pre-movie entertainment. *****     *****     ***** On Wednesday evening, August 1st, Mayor Joseph C. Braintree Party in the Park at Sunset Lake Tuesday as Part of Concert Series

The party starts at 6 p.m. on July 31 and continues as part of the outdoor Sunset Lake Concert Series.

Mayor Joseph C. Sullivan and the Braintree Recreation Department are offering this summer’s last Party-in-the Park on Tuesday evening, July 31st at Sunset Lake. Sponsored by Braintree Electric Light Department (BELD), the Party begins at 6 p.m. as part of our outdoor Sunset Concert Series featuring live musical entertainment of the Heritage House Blues Band. The grills will be heated for free hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, snacks and beverages. Please join us and enjoy the festivities. Come early and don’t forget to bring your lawn chair or blanket. Free Fun in the Summertime

A number of free activities to make the most of your summer.

It's been about a week and a half since school let out and already the youngsters are getting a little restless. Once again, we’ve rounded up some fun (and free) activities to do this summer. Movies by Moonlight Braintree’s Family Flick Nights kicks off next Thursday, July 5 with a showing of Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin. The event begins at 6 p.m. at Carson Field at Braintree High School. Members of the Recreation department will be on hand with games for the kids to play prior to the start of the movie. The Buck-a-Buy stand will be open for business, with hot dogs, drinks, chips, and candy available for purchase. The movie is slated to begin at dusk. Celtics Playoffs Tickets for Sale at Braintree Recreation Office

Tickets are available for the May 6 game.

The Recreation Department has Celtics Game 4 Playoff tickets for sale! Beginning Tuesday, May 1, the Recreation Office will be taking reservations for those tickets between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. every day this week for as long as there are tickets available. The game is on Sunday, May 6 (7 p.m. tipoff). Seating is in the balcony of TD  Bank Garden. The tickets are $70 each and include transportation from Town Hall at 5:30 p.m. Sorry, but we must limit tickets to four per purchaser as we have a limited amount of tickets. When the tickets arrive at our office, you will be notified and you will have 24 hours to pick them up. We will accept cash and checks (payable to the Town of Braintree) only.
