Four Braintree Police Officers Awarded by DA

The officers were recognized for their parts in two separate incidents in Braintree.

The following is from the Office of Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey: Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey has recognized four Braintree Police Officers with 2013 Officer Robert P. Dana Awards for outstanding policing. Chief Russell Jenkins nominated officers involved in two separate incidents for the prestigious recognition.  “Det. Joseph Molloy was nominated for his role in successfully resolving an incident that neither started nor ended in Braintree,” Morrissey said. “On April 25, 2012, Weymouth police alerted area departments about an armed bank robbery, broadcasting that the two involved males, armed with handguns, had fled the area in a grey Jeep. Braintree Children Found Safe in Connecticut After Abduction, Amber Alert

The children, aged 8 and 10, were found safe at a 7-11 in South Windsor, CT. late Monday night.

Two Braintree children who were allegedly kidnapped Monday afternoon were found safe late Monday night. Braintree and Massachusetts State Police issued an Amber Alert Monday for the two children, who were found at a 7-11 in South Windsor, Connecticut, according to updates from state police. Both appeared to be fine, according to the updates.  Police were able to locate the children after a trucker found the vehicle they were reportedly traveling in as it exited Rte. I-84 in South Windsor, according to MSP. Connecticut State Police then responded to the area with cruisers and located the children.  The Amber Alert was issued shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, after police began searching for the children and their father, John T. UPDATE: Police Looking for Father in Alleged Kidnapping of His Two Children

UPDATE (9:50 p.m.) - Braintree and state police have issued an Amber Alert for two children from Braintree whose father allegedly kidnapped them Monday afternoon from their foster home. John T. Lockwood, 54, with a last known address at a Foxboro hotel, drove off with the children in a brown, 2005 BMW 525i with Massachusetts registration 478RF8, Police Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement. Several neighbors told police that they heard a commotion at around 4:30 p.m. and came outside to see Lockwood leaving with his children, a boy and girls. Jenkins said he would not specify the location of the foster home. Police said Lockwood forcibly took his son Patrick, an 8-year-old Asian male whose full name is My Tri Nguyen, and ordered his …

Fishing Gear and Bicycles Taken in Braintree Home Break-in

An Arborway Drive home was broken into last week and fishing gear and bicycles were stolen from the basement. The homeowner told police that the break-in happened sometime between Saturday, May 4 and Tuesday, May 7. Police believe entrance was gained through a basement window and that the culprit did not make it into the rest of the house, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement. An exterior door leading out of the basement was found unlocked and was most likely the means of entry.

Shoplifter Drops 'Booster Bag' Running From Braintree Police

A 35-year-old Boston woman was arrested by Braintree police last week after she allegedly stole more than $500 worth of clothing from J. Crew and Arden B at the South Shore Plaza and fled on foot from police. Lynda Bowater was charged with shoplifting and receiving stolen property over $250, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement. Police arrived at the Plaza last Wednesday, May 8, after receiving a report that Bowater had concealed a dress at Arden B in a bag and left. She was exiting J. Crew when police got to the Plaza and she dropped the bag and fled toward the mall exit, Jenkins said. Police found the bag – a "booster bag" lined with tin foil and duct tape – and the dress and J. Crew clothing inside.

Man Arrested for Selling Crack at Braintree Gas Station

A 29-year-old Hyde Park man was arrested for allegedly selling crack cocaine at a gas station on Granite Street last week. Braintree detectives patrolling the area saw Charles W. Nation, Jr. last Thursday, May 9, engaging in what they believed to be a drug transaction with a 53-year-old Sharon woman at an unnamed gas station, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement. "Detectives observed the woman,  whose name is not being released because she has not yet been charged, meet up with Nation at a Granite Street gas station," Jenkins said. "At the gas station, the woman approached Nation’s Chevrolet Trailblazer and engaged in a suspected drug transaction before quickly departing." Braintree Teen Arrested for Selling Marijuana Out of Shed

An 18-year-old Braintree man was charged with selling marijuana out of a shed on Edgemont Road after a neighbor reported suspicious activity to the police. Joseph N. Gauthier also faces charges of possession of marijuana and Ecstasy after police searched the shed, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement. "A neighbor reported to police that he was seeing teenagers unfamiliar to him going in and out of the shed over the past several weeks and finding Ziploc bags and similar refuse discarded on or near his property," Jenkins said. "Officer Blake Holt approached the shed and located Gauthier and five other individuals, ages sixteen and seventeen, inside" Police found unnamed quantities of marijuana and Ecstasy, a scale and Ziplock bags. Suspect Identified in F1 Boston ATM Theft Linked to Saturday Safe Robbery

A 48-year-old Quincy man has been identified by Braintree police as the person behind an ATM theft at F1 Boston earlier this year and the attempted theft of money from a safe at a Braintree business on Saturday. David Attardo was allegedly caught with his hand in a safe at McConnell Industries at 60 Garden Park in Braintree, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement. He was found by an employee in a workers only area of the business while it was open and detained until police arrived. Based on that incident, Attardo was charged with breaking and entering in the daytime (the room) and breaking and entering into a depository (the safe), Jenkins said. A companion, Peter J.
