Braintree 4th of July Parade Moves Forward With New Direction

This year's celebration will be held on Saturday, June 29.

Braintree will see a new route and shifted lineup for its 4th of July Parade this year after concerns over rising costs led to a change in leadership. Since it returned to Braintree after an 18-year hiatus in 2008, the parade has grown from a few bands and groups costing about $24,000 to an event last year that cost nearly $80,000 and featured more than a dozen bugle corps from around the country, along with other parade bands and performers from throughout New England. John Robinson, a Navy veteran and retired MBTA worker who volunteered as director for the last five years, said his goal was to make Braintree's parade one of the premiere in Massachusetts. VIDEO: 2012 Braintree 4th of July Parade and Fireworks

Braintree celebrated the 4th of July on Saturday with a parade, carnival, music and fireworks at Braintree High School.

Atlas Pyrotechnics of Jaffrey New Hampshire put on the fireworks at Braintree High School on Saturday, June 30, 2012. Earlier in the day, the parade wound from Hollis School to BHS and included local organizations, politicians, school groups and performers from around Massachusetts and the country.

Festivities include a parade, live entertainment, food, games and a fireworks display.

Braintree July 4th Celebration Committee Continues Fundraising Challenge

The Committee is seeking donations from businesses and residents to support the celebration.

The Braintree July 4th Celebration Committee is continuing their fundraising challenge. With a little more than a week to go until the June 30th parade and celebration take place, which is the first and largest on the South Shore, the committee members are asking the people and businesses of Braintree to partner up and join the fundraising team to make these patriotic festivities a success. “The outpouring of support for the parade and celebration has been tremendous, but we haven’t quite reached our goal yet.
