4th of July Committee Kicks-Off Fundraising Effort

Braintree’s 40th Annual Independence Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 29.

The Braintree July 4th Celebration Committee, recently recognized as a tax-exempty charitable organization, announced its annual fundraising campaign this week with a donation of $2,500 from the Braintree Cooperative Bank. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the town's Independence Day celebration. It was re-started in 2008 after an 18-year hiatus, and will be held on Saturday, June 29. Festivities at Braintree High School will begin at 2 p.m. following the parade that starts at Hollis Elementary School. “We're excited about the chance to partner with our businesses and offer them the chance to sponsor this great family fun event at whatever level they can," Committee Chair Sean Powers said in a statement. Braintree 4th of July Parade Moves Forward With New Direction

This year's celebration will be held on Saturday, June 29.

Braintree will see a new route and shifted lineup for its 4th of July Parade this year after concerns over rising costs led to a change in leadership. Since it returned to Braintree after an 18-year hiatus in 2008, the parade has grown from a few bands and groups costing about $24,000 to an event last year that cost nearly $80,000 and featured more than a dozen bugle corps from around the country, along with other parade bands and performers from throughout New England. John Robinson, a Navy veteran and retired MBTA worker who volunteered as director for the last five years, said his goal was to make Braintree's parade one of the premiere in Massachusetts. 50s Dance Supports Braintree 4th of July 40th Anniversary Celebration

The Braintree 4th of July Celebration Committee is already planning for next year's 40th anniversary event.

Next month Town Hall will host a 1950s-themed dance from 7 p.m. to Midnight to help support the 40th anniversary of Braintree's 4th of July Celebration. The event will take place on Friday, Oct. 26 and features the 5 G's Show Band and Bobby Collins. Donations are $25 per person and include a hot and cold buffet, a best 50s outfit contest and a cash bar. The Braintree parade went from Hollis School to Braintree High, where music, carnival games, food and fireworks followed.

The Braintree Bi-Centennial Time Capsule Story and its July 4th Event

There will be a Time Capsule ceremony at Braintree's Town Hall Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.

Braintree celebrated the 4th of July on Saturday with a parade, carnival, music and fireworks at Braintree High School.

Atlas Pyrotechnics of Jaffrey New Hampshire put on the fireworks at Braintree High School on Saturday, June 30, 2012. Earlier in the day, the parade wound from Hollis School to BHS and included local organizations, politicians, school groups and performers from around Massachusetts and the country.

Braintree to Celebrate 4th of July with Time Capsule Ceremony on Wednesday

At 9 am. on July 4, various officials and reenactors will take to Town Hall to honor veterans and the nation's independence, and present an annual report on Braintree's time capsule.

Braintree’s Bi-Centennial Time Capsule Society is holding a July Fourth Observance with a Time Capsule Inspection ON Wednesday, July 4th, at Town Hall starting at 9 till 10:15.    It will feature Re-enactors in Period Dress, “John Hancock” will re-enact the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Senator Brian Joyce will speak as well as Aaron Yu, the 2013 Valedictorian for BHS.   Come one Come All.
