Top Five Braintree Performances

In the short time we've been covering Braintree, there have been some excellent performances. Here are five, in no particular order.

First there was Top Five Fall Sports Moments, then came Top Five School Stories, Top Ten Photos of 2010 and Top Five Shoplifting Tales. Continuing our trend (which could become a Top Five-article itself) we've got: Top Five Braintree Performances. 1. To warm up some local December holiday ears, Braintree High School hosted Winter Arts Night on Dec. 2. Songs ranged from Lady Gaga to Schubert's "Impromptu in G Flat Major," and instruments from the piano to voices alone. Janis Joplin, Blink 182, Whitney Houston and Taylor Swift also received fresh renditions from several students.  2. Thayer Library Hosts Holiday Sing-a-Long

On Winter Solstice eve, the library hosted a festive sing-a-long, featuring musician David Polansky, to celebrate with the community.

On the first day of winter, the darkest day of the year, the Thayer Public Library was yet again a picture of holiday merriment. Thanks to a family programming grant awarded by Comcast and the efforts the Friends of Thayer Public Library, a lively sing-a-long featuring long-time children's singer David Polansky delighted many Braintree-ites. Truly a "holiday" concert, David sang a number of Hanukah songs, including one of his own composition, the amusing "Hanukah Tarantella." He also performed two songs for Kwanza, one which had the audience repeating back words in Swahili, which represented the seven principals of Kwanza; and a second dance number called "Kwanza Bear."
