The council is Braintree's legislative government branch and is made up of nine councilors. Three of those are at-large and the other six are by district. All members are elected every two years. Responsibilities of the Town Council include passing ordinances and voting on mayoral budget decisions. Meetings typically take place on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm at Town Hall in the Horace T. Cahill Auditorium.
