Photo Gallery: Second Annual Prayers for Charlotte Road Race

The race started and ended at the Granite Grill in Braintree on April 22, 2012.

Braintree's Charlotte Kelly was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer, Stage IV neuroblastoma, in June 2009 and passed away on Dec. 7, 2011 after undergoing extensive treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation and stem-cell transplants.

On Sunday, April 22, Prayers for Charlotte held its second annual road race, launching from the Granite Grill in Braintree.

Last spring, Prayers for Charlotte – a 100 percent volunteer organization – sent $60,000 it raised in the inaugural race to the Van Andel Research Institute in Grand Rapids, MI, where a leading pediatric oncologist performs neuroblastoma research. This year, Greg Kelly said he and the family's supporters were hoping to raise even more money, and send a portion of it to families affected by the disease who need financial help.
