MIAA Volunteers Help Fix Up Braintree Athletic Facilities, Play Ball With Challenger Kids

Participants in Braintree's Challenger Division played softball with volunteers from the New England Student Leadership Conference earlier this month.

Earlier this month, student athletes from Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association joined with those from other New England states to take part in the 2012 New England Student Leadership Conference at Stonehill College in Easton.

Some of those student athletes also made their way over to Braintree to complete various service projects, including landscaping at Alumni Stadium, construction of field hockey goals and the painting of an athletic complex, Athletic Director Michael Denise said.

Afterward, they met up with ball players from Braintree's Challenger Division for a softball game at BHS. Denise said the event was a lot of fun and a great way for student athletes from around the region to interact with a local program for the developmentally disabled.
