Wamps Athletic Update: State Meet Results

More sports updates for Braintree teams and athletes.

The following is from Athletic Director Michael Denise:

  • At the All-State Indoor Track Championship, Abby Randall finished 14th in the Girls Shot Put.
  • At the State Division 1 Wrestling Meet, Shawn Donahue finished 6th and Martin Mulkerrin finished in 7th place, qualifying both boys for the All-State Meet that was held in Salem.
  • At the All-State Meet this past weekend, Shawn Donahue placed 3rd will wrestle in the New England Championship Tournament that begins this Friday in Providence, RI.  As a team, Braintree won the Team Sportsmanship Award presented by the MIOWA. 
  • At the Mass. Gymnastics Coaches Individual State Meet, Erin Shea was 12th on vault with a score of 8.975.  Brooke Ellis scored a 8.825 on Vault and an 8.0 on Bars. 

Here is an update from the MIAA Division 1 State Meet for Indoor Track held on February 16:

  • The girls team finished up the season on a great note.  Senior Abby Randall placed 5th in the shot put almost breaking her own school record with a throw of 35 10 1/4" (School record is 35' 11"). Freshman Ally O'Rourke also received a medal in the mile taking 8th place with a time of 5:21.  Sophomores Adriana McDevitt, Delia Byrne and Lindsay Mahoney took 16th, 17th, and 22nd in the 600m with personal best times.  Brooke Yuen took 23rd in the 300, junior Alex McInnis took 19th in the 55m dash and junior Nora Donahue took 16th in the shot put.  The 4x4 relay team of Lindsay Mahoney, Delia Byrne, Ally O'Rourke and Marissa Balsamo took 22nd. The 4x200 relay team consisting of Brooke Yuen, Caroline Cross, Adriana McDevitt and Alex McInnis took 10th and ran a personal record time of 1:51.94. 

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Cheer Squad for their first place finish at the Bristol Plymouth Invitational on Saturday.
