Supporters raised more than $6000 to send Braintree to Connecticut for the Babe Ruth regionals.

The boys will be stopping by Town Hall at about noon Friday on their way home. Stop by and say hello!

The 15-year-old Braintree Babe Ruth team lost Thursday to Cranston, RI 4-1 in the finals of the regional tournament in Newtown, CT.

The score was 1-0 Braintree until the bottom of the sixth, when Cranston scored four runs.

"Braintree played six games in six days, and each and every player on this team should hold their head high, they played tremendously throughout the regional tournament," coordinator Carl Zingarelli said.

"I hope this is a week of baseball the boys will never forget, as I know I will not. Thanks to all the parents who supported us through this trip along with all the sponsors. I can't name them all, but some I would like to mention are the Brew House, South Shore Savings Bank, Clean Harbors and all who contributed.

"A big thanks goes out to Coach Buckley, Coach Dom Zingarelli, Coach Phripp and Coach Casey. Another special thanks goes to Mr. Morales, who did whatever the team needed.

"To the boys: hold your head high, each and every one had a tremendous tournament. Thanks Sean Casey, Justin Phripp, Dino DiCienzo, Scott Creedon, Kevin Troy, Aiden Adams, Bill Roche, Kevin Lawton, Matt McGrath, Jack Cusack, Zack Delvecchio, Raul Morales, Steven Whalen, Steven DiMartino and Chris Googins.
