Braintree Little League Helicopter Ball Drop a Huge Success

More than 900 tickets were sold for a helicopter ball drop held Saturday afternoon at Braintree High School to raise money for the Braintree American 11B District Championship Team's trip Aug. 23 to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.

The event July 13 was a great success, Maureen Meucci said in an email. She added that the team offers a huge "Thank You!" for Mayor Joseph Sullivan, his staff and the Braintree Fire Department for their support.

The team's website is updated at www.braintreeamericancooperstown2013.weebly.com to include the Red Sox info with the raffle info. The Golf Ball Drop is now on Page 2 of the website and can be accessed through a link on the left hand side of the site.

They have also teamed up with the Red Sox Foundation to give back gently used baseball and softball equipment this Saturday, July 20 at Hollingsworth Field in conjunction with the B tournament being held there.

In Cooperstown, the team will compete in a national tournament, one of a few select teams from around the country. It is the first time a team from Braintree has been selected and now means that future teams will also have a chance to travel to Cooperstown.
