Braintree High Offering Fan Bus for Girls Basketball Game in Springfield This Week

The varsity girls team is playing a squad from Oregon on Friday.

The 10-0 Braintree High School girls varsity basketball team will play another dominant team later this week, and will travel all the way to Springfield College for the match.

Their opponent, though, has a much longer trip.

The Lady Wamps will take on the Millers of Springfield High School – Springfield, OR – on Friday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. They are among more than 40 teams from across the country competing in the 2013 Spalding Hoophall Classic, an event that promotes itself as a showcase for the nation's top high school basketball talent.

To help fans get to the game, BHS is offering a bus for students. It costs $20, which includes the $10 ticket. Braintree Youth Basketball is also offering a fan bus, for its participants and family members, Athletic Director Michael Denise said in an email.

The Oregon team is 10-3 so far this season. Braintree's last victim was Needham, who the girls toppled 57-33 on Friday. They play Weymouth at home at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
