Braintree’s Tim Lebbossiere became the seventh athlete
to score more than 50 points in the All-Around event during their first competition Thursday, Jan. 5 at Andover High School.
The All-Around total is the sum of scores from each of the six events in men’s gymnastics (Tim averaged 8.3 out of a possible 10). He won 4 out of the six events against a strong Andover team. Andover High School won the team competition 155 to 149. This was Braintree’s first dual meet loss in five years.
“I am not that worried” Coach Rich Ellis said. “This was our first competition this season and the boys performed the best they could. We graduated seven seniors last year; consequently have many new faces in our gym. Gymnastics is a sport of skill and confidence, these boys will improve.”
The teams will most likely meet again at the State Championships held at Braintree High in February.
Seniors Brett Ellis (no relation to Coach), Pete MacLellan and John Lutz also did a
fine job with their routines. First year athletes, Nick Bean, Morgan Brown, Simon
Sullivan, Mathew Ford & Nick Van Alfen represented the Wamps with BHS pride.
Next boy’s gymnastics meet is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 13 versus Lowell
