Boston Bruins Bruiser at AT&T Braintree Wednesday

The veterans Bruins forward is helping AT&T with its "Design My Rally Towel" contest and a texting and driving campaign.

Nearly a foot of snow will not stop Shawn Thornton from appearing at AT&T at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree Wednesday evening.

The longtime Boston Bruin will be on hand from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to support AT&T's "Design My Rally Towel" contest and anti-texting and driving campaign "It Can Wait."

The Design My Rally Towel contest allows Bruins’ fans to use a smartphone app to create their own towel design, according to a press release.

The grand-prize winner will get tickets to the Bruins’ April 12 fan appreciation game. At that game, towels featuring the winning design will be given to the first 12,000 fans in attendance.

Thornton is also encouraging others to pledge not to text and drive. Students from Massachusetts who take the pledge will be entered into a drawing. The winner will bring Thornton to their school. Thornton will also host their hockey programs at TD Garden for a practice and coaching session.

The event includes an autograph session and is free and open to the public.

AT&T is on level one near Milton's at the Plaza.
