Braintree High Girls Soccer Take Season Opener

At Milton High School’s Brooks Field

The Braintree High School Girls Varsity Soccer team opened their 2013 campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 win over traditional rival Milton High School. Anchored by a strong defensive performance from the back four of Sinead O’Callahan (Sr. Captain), Jen Guen (Sr.), Kate Murphy (Sr.), and Adriana McDevitt (Jr.), and keeper Christie Fleming (Jr.), Braintree limited Milton to very few quality opportunities near the Braintree goal. After a scoreless first half, the Lady Wamps went on to control play throughout the second half. After several quality scoring bids from Ally O’Rourke (So.), Caroline Cross (Jr.), and Kayla Wilson (Sr.) just missed finding the net, Braintree finally broke through on the strength of Alex McInnis’ (Sr. Captain) left to right cross which Kayla Wilson put through for the game winner with just over a minute to play.  Next up for the girls is a home match v. Norwood at Braintree High School’s Alumni Stadium on Tuesday September 10 at 3:45pm.
