Where School Committee Candidates Stand on a Kindergarten Center

Braintree's election is Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013.

The Braintree Public Schools added 600 students over the last decade, and will likely add hundreds more in the coming years.

The influx of school-age children has been labeled a good problem by many Braintree officials because it means people are attracted to the community, but it also means a space crunch in most Braintree schools.

As a short-term space needs solution, a kindergarten center at Monatiquot School next fall could free 10 to 12 classrooms throughout Braintree’s elementary schools.

Each of the School Committee candidates in Tuesday’s election, including both nominated and write-in candidates, have discussed with Braintree Patch their thoughts on the kindergarten center.
