South Middle School Students to Perform Broadway Classic at End of April

There are three performances – April 27 at 7 p.m. and April 28 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m

The students of proudly present Guys and Dolls, Jr., a
Broadway musical comedy classic on Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 28 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Set in New York City, the musical brings to life colorful characters originally created by acclaimed Prohibition-era author Damon Runyan. There’s Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight mission worker and Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet and falls in love. Nightclub performer, Adelaide, suffers from a chronic flu brought on by her lengthy engagement to devoted fiancé, Nathan Detroit, who is always on the lookout for a spot for his infamous floating dice game.

Written by Abe Burrows and featuring the music and lyrics of Frank Loesser
including the timeless classics, “A Bushel and A Peck,” and “Luck Be a Lady,” Guys and Dolls, Jr. is being directed by South Middle School’s music teacher, Matthew Sawtelle, and choreographed by Elyse Hager.
