Rubin Appointed Another Year as Special Education Director

Jeffrey W. Rubin, the former director of Pupil Personnel Services for Milton Public Schools, has been serving as temporary special education director in Braintree.

In his second year as interim special education director for Braintree Public Schools, Jeffrey W. Rubin was apppointed earlier this week to serve through 2013-2014.

The School Committee unanimously approved the appointment at its Monday meeting.

"He's done a wonderful job," Superintendent Dr. Peter Kurzberg said.

Rubin came to Braintree in August 2011 following the retirement of Robert Belmont. He is a retired educator from Newton with two decades of special education experience.

He was formerly the Director of Pupil Personnel Services for Milton Public Schools, from 2006 to 2010. Prior to that he directed special education in Worcester, Waltham, Peabody and Londonberry. From 1979 until 1996 he taught special education in Melrose and Natick.

Rubin holds a Master of Education from Lesley University, a Bachelor of Science from Seton Hall University and has done advanced graduate studies in school administration at Bridgewater State University.

The school department formed a committee during the last school year to find a permanent replacement for Belmont, but have yet to announce plans beyond Rubin's service.
