1-Hour Delay for Thayer Academy Tuesday, Braintree Public, Archbishop Schools Open

While Accuweather is forecasting gusts up to 80 mph in the New Jersey area, the usually much calmer weather.gov is forecasting a slightly less blowy 60 mph for southern New England.

Braintree Public Schools will be open on Tuesday as the worst effects of Hurricane Sandy in Massachusetts appear to have passed.

Unless parents hear otherwise from the school department, Braintree students should expect to attend class, Superintendent Dr. Peter Kurzberg said on Monday afternoon.

Sandy's wind damage and scattered power outages in Braintree have led to at least one education-related change on Tuesday. Thayer Academy announced that bus pick-up times will be delayed by one hour. Classes will start at 9 a.m., according to the school's website.
