DJ Jim Plunkett Rocks Braintree Fund for Education Fundraiser

Since its inception the fund has raised more than three hundred thousand dollars to enhance the educational opportunities offered to students in Braintree Public Schools

Local 369 Hall in Braintree was rocking Friday night as DJ Jim Plunkett played to a packed house at the 8th Annual Braintree Fund for Education’s (BFFE) St. Patrick’s Day Celebration.

The event, sponsored by the BFFE, raises funds for technology in the classroom and the teacher grant program. The BFFE is a 501 (c) (3) public charity that was founded by Pam Kiley in 2006. Since its’ inception the fund has raised over three hundred thousand dollars to enhance the educational opportunities offered to students in the Braintree Public School system.

Kiley projected that the event this year rose close to forty thousand dollars for the 2013-2014 Teacher Grant Program. Per Kiley, a large percentage of the money raised by the BFFE comes from the generosity of businesses and individuals who place ads in the program book. Dan Quirk and Quirk Auto Dealers was the title sponsor again this year.

The Haley School of Irish Dance performed for the crowd prior to Jim Plunkett taking the stage. This group of young step dancers is always a huge hit with the BFFE crowd.

Plunkett performed to an energetic crowd. Angie Robery is quoted on Plunkett’s
facebook page as saying, “I had a blast last night in Braintree. Like always you are amazing!!! My whole body hurts from dancing from start to the end. Gracias!!"

The event also featured a raffle and silent auction and gave attendees the opportunity to win over 75 prizes including cash, opening day N.E. Patriots Tickets, Red Sox tickets, a Tour of the Capitol and Library of Congress, restaurant, bakery and retail gift certificates, and registrations to youth basketball and soccer programs. Christine Best of Braintree won the $1000 1st prize in the March Madness Cash Raffle drawing.
