Cole Porter Classic Coming to Braintree High

On November 8, 9, 10, the Braintree High School Theatre Guild will be performing the musical "Anything Goes."

The Braintree High School Theatre Guild will proudly present Cole Porter's classic musical Anything Goes, under the direction of Rolf I. Carlson. Since it's debut in 1934, it has proven to be one of the most enduring musical comedies of all time.

“Anything Goes,” with a book by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse that was revised by Timothy Crouse and John Wiedman, tells the story of an ocean liner bound from New York to London. It features a host of hilarious characters as well as some of Cole Porter's most memorable and endearing songs. Audiences will be captivated by the big brass band sound and show-stopping tap dancing.

Billy Crocker (senior Liam Maguire), a young Wall Street broker, is trying to win over the heart of young debutante, Hope Harcourt (sophomore Emily DiGiusto). Reno Sweeney (sophomore Maverick Shay), an evangelist turned nightclub singer, and Moonface Martin (senior Bryan Rowell), Public Enemy #13, aid Billy in his quest to win Hope, starting with helping him stowaway on the ship that she has boarded with her stuffy and wealthy English fiancé, Lord Evelyn Oakleigh (senior Stephen DiGiusto), and her fortune-seeking mother, Evangeline (senior Abby Randall).

Coincidentally, Billy’s boss, Eli Whitney (junior John O’Connell) is aboard the the ship on a business trip. As the ship takes off, Moonface, who is disguised as a minster, and his sidekick, Erma (senior Mackenzie Hawe), lend Billy the passport of their boss “Snake Eyes” Johnson, Public Enemy #1, who is unable to make the trip. A series of mad-cap antics and hilarious mishaps ensue.

Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes” will be performed in Braintree High School's Grabosky Auditorium at 128 Town Street, Braintree, MA 02184 on Thursday, November 8 at 7:30 PM, Friday, November 9 at 8:00 PM, and Saturday, November 10 at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
