Braintree High School Store Goes Digital

All items available in the store at Braintree High are now online as well.

In the five years since Braintree High School business teacher Kevin Coyne and his classes took over the school store, parents have increasingly sought to pay for hats, sweatshirts, sweatpants and other Braintree-themed goods with credit cards and by calling in orders for Christmas, birthdays and other special events.

To help meet that demand, and to give his Introduction to Business students experience with e-commerce, Coyne and colleague Dwayne Dahlbeck recently launched Wamp Stop, an online store for Braintree High merchandise.

The site contains the same offerings as the school store, located between the cafeteria and gymnasium. It has men's and women's clothing, featuring Wamps, alumni and general Braintree themes, using brand names like Under Armor and Champion. There are also accessories such as stickers, sunglasses and iPhone cases.

About 15 students, all in 12th grade, take Introduction to Business each year. They sell products in the physical store, track inventory and best sellers, learn how to make re-orders and set price points. Some students have also helped create the website and polish its look.

For instance, Lisa Czech, a 22-year-old former business student and Braintree High grad, provided professional photography for the Wamp Stop.

Students also put together packages for rising middle school students and are getting ready for the rush of the holiday shopping season. Profits roll back into the program.
