Tuesday Town Council Meetings Postponed

Snow is expected to accumulate throughout the afternoon and evening Tuesday in Braintree.

UPDATE: The Zoning Board of Appeals scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday has been cancelled.

The Town Council and Committee on Ways & Means meetings scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday have been moved to Thursday night because of the snow storm.

Councilors are expected to convene briefly Tuesday evening at Town Hall to open two public hearings and then immediately continue them until Thursday so the items can be addressed before the end of the year.

The council meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and the committee meeting at 6 p.m.

The Zoning Board of Appeals meeting scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m. had not been cancelled as of 2:45 p.m., according to the Town Clerk's office.

The National Weather Service is predicting three to five inches in Braintree Tuesday afternoon and an additional two to four through the night.

Some of the heaviest precipitation is expected during the evening commute, and Secretary of State William Galvin (acting governor) has sent non-emergency state workers home. He is also suggesting private businesses send employees home by 4 p.m.
