Sunny Shaw to be Celebrated as Braintree 'Peacemaker'

Mayor Joseph C. Sullivan invites all to the Town of Braintree’s 22nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Peacemaker Celebration not only to celebrate the life and legacy of one of America’s true icons, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., but also to recognize and honor this year’s award recipient, Ms. Sonya “Sunny” Shaw.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at Braintree Town Hall’s Cahill Auditorium. There will be a reception from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the evening’s program beginning at 7 p.m.

Unlike previous years’ celebrations, we will honor just one person this year, Ms. Sunny Shaw. Sunny has been the driving force behind this program since its inception. She moreso than anyone else epitomizes serving others above self and has tirelessly given of herself to make Braintree a better place to live.
As Sunny has decided to step down as co-chairperson of this annual event, it is only fitting that she be recognized as the sole recipient of the 2013 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Peacemaker Award.
