Rep. Cusack Named Vice Chair of Telecommunications, Utilities, Energy Committee

Rep. Mark Cusack, D-Braintree, won his second term last fall.

Representative Mark J. Cusack (D- Braintree) was recently named the Vice Chairman of the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy for the 188 th Legislative Session of the Massachusetts General Court.

The Telecommunications, Utilities, and Energy Committee is charged with reviewing all matters concerning the exploration, exploitation and development of energy sources, such as coal, gas, oil, nuclear fusion, solar rays, wind, tidal movement, etc. The Committee also has jurisdiction over proposals regarding the siting of energy facilities, public utilities and other such matters as may
be referred.

“I am grateful to Speaker DeLeo for appointing me the Vice Chairman of the
Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy Committee,” said Representative Cusack. “I am looking forward to working on the important issues this committee handles that affect our Commonwealth and especially my district which contains a municipal power plant as well as gas and electrical service from major utilities.”

“This appointment is great news for Braintree” said Mayor Joseph C. Sullivan “Mark will be an important voice for energy issues throughout the state and with our municipal operation through BELD, he will see that we are a vital part of those discussions”.

Representative Cusack, who is in his second term representing Braintree, Holbrook, and Randolph, will also serve on the Joint Committee on Revenue and the Joint Committee on Transportation during this legislative session.
