Power Restored Within Minutes for Those Affected in Braintree

Power went out for five minutes Tuesday morning for about 5,000 Braintree Electric Light Department customers.

BELD was working Tuesday overhauling its substation off Adams and Middle streets when the outage happened, General Manager Bill Bottiggi said. The Braintree police reported it shortly before 11:30 a.m.

"
We are commissioning [the station] and were putting equipment back in service when a trip occurred," Bottiggi said in an email. "It is probably a wiring issue that we will trouble shoot and repair."

Correction:
The number of affected customers was about 5,000 not 500 as Bottiggi originally said.
